Happy Birthday Larry Bird!

As Larry Legend turns 58 today, we celebrate him not only for the winning and the culture of success he inspired with the C's but also for his fabled wit and trash talking skills.

From his "Who's playing for second" at the All-Star Weekend Three-Point Shootout to the infamous "42-6" quip that ignited his skirmish with Dr. J, Bird had every word for every occasion delivered at the right place and perfect time.


My favorite was when he gift-wrapped a Christmas present for Indiana's Chuck "The Rifleman" Person.  Person came into Beantown for a Christmas day game declaring, "The Rifleman's coming and he's going Bird hunting."  Just before tip-off Bird walks over to Person and tells him he has a gift prepared for him.  Then later in the game, with Person sitting on the bench, Bird launches and sinks a three in front of the Pacers loud-mouth.  At which point Bird then turned to Person and exclaimed, "Merry fucking Christmas!"
