Brad Stevens says it's possible Rajon Rondo could play opening night, Rondo isn't so sure

My guess is that if October 29 was Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Rondo would without a doubt be playing. But since it's just the first night of an 82-game season with very limited expectations, there is no reason whatsoever to rush him back. Be patient C's fans, we'll see him in 3-4 weeks.
