Report: Celtics likely to acquire a 2nd-round draft pick

Boston currently has the 6th and 17th picks in the NBA draft, which will be held a week from Thursday, on June 26.  The Celtics are not in possession of a 2nd-round selection at the moment, they traded theirs to Dallas (#34 overall) in order to move up to #13 last year to get Kelly Olynyk.

At last season's draft Boston also bought a late 2nd rounder from Indiana (#53 overall), using it to grab Colton Iverson.  According to The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn, the C's may make a similar move this year:

With the players they are inviting for workouts and from what agents are hearing, fully expect the Celtics to trade to get back into the second round. The club is looking at guard prospects such as Xavier Thames, Semaj Christon, [Nick] Johnson and Russ Smith.

It'd be kind of cool if Boston did pull off a minor trade and drafted Nick Johnson; the former Arizona Wildcat is the nephew of Celtic-great Dennis Johnson, who passed away in 2007.
