Raptors coach Dwane Casey says Celtics "not your typical rebuilding team"

Toronto coach Dwane Casey had some nice things to say about Boston before the Raptors beat the Celtics 99-90 Wednesday.

The Raptors looked to be in a similar situation to Boston as they were expected to rebuild after trading Rudy Gay to Sacramento this season less than a year after acquiring him from the Grizzlies. But then a funny thing happened. All those rotation guys they got from the Kings and their own up-and-coming players like DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry started to gel. Before you knew it, Toronto was leading the Atlantic Division and look like they'll take the division crown.

For Boston, they're still rebuilding and will finish where many expected, at the bottom of the standings.

Even so, Casey seems to like what he sees with the Celtics.

That's the kind of team you want. If they have to suck, at least they give their all every night. It shows the great job coach Brad Stevens has done to keep his players engaged despite their record and can only pay dividends once this team acquires some real talent to build around these guys.

So the checklist goes:

Assets? check

Effort? check

Coaching? check

Talent? on its way

Not bad, as far as rebuilding goes.
