Sean Grande: Celtics could be buyers at the trade deadline
Celtics play-by-play man Sean Grande spoke with Bob Neumeier and Kirk Minihane on Arbella Early Edition to share his thoughts on what the Celtics trade deadline activities.
"It’s not going to surprise me if the Celtics suddenly became surprise buyers at the deadline instead of sellers."
The Celtics have been very busy since the beginning of the 2013-14 season stockpiling assets and picks. Recent reports suggest that the Celtics will be building around Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger which leaves a lot of room for potential deals to be struck for the rest of the roster.
"The Celtics have been almost a walking shopping cart for 54-some-odd games," says Grande. "'Look, what Brandon Bass can do. Look at Jeff Green. What can Green do for you? What can Kris Humphries do?'"
2014 is starting to look a lot like 2007 in the sense that the Celtics have a lot of chips on the table and would be able to put together attractive offers for a target they want to acquire. This weekend’s NBA All-Star Game is essentially the kick-off to a busy trade week. With the trade deadline this coming Thursday, we could see some new blood bleeding green very soon.
