Carmelo Anthony is still 'bitter' about getting crushed by Boston earlier this season
With the Celtics and Knicks getting ready to square off at MSG tonight, Carmelo Anthony can't seem to shake the memory of the last time the two teams met there, a 114-73 Boston beat-down on December 8th (they also played again at the TD Garden five days later, with the Celtics winning 90-86). Via ESPN New York's Ian Begley, here's what Anthony had to say yesterday:
“That game left a bitter taste in my mouth and everybody’s mouth. It was unacceptable, that game. We remember that.”
Off course, those were different times back in early December. While New York hasn't improved too much, the Celtics have fallen off dramatically, going 5-19 since that blowout victory. Carmelo himself is on a bit of a tear, scoring 97 points combined in the Knicks last two games (62 and 35), wins over the Bobcats and Lakers. This evening he'll get an opportunity to show whether New York may actually be turning the corner in the right direction, or if this has just been a blip in the middle of a long and ugly season.
