Recap: Celtics get their first win of the season in a 97-87 win over Utah



The Jazz went on a 12-0 run in the first quarter to take a 14-3 lead. The Jazz's biggest lead was 13 in the first quarter. The Celtics made a run to cut the lead to 16-10, but the Jazz scored 4 unanswered points to go up 20-10. Phil Pressey entered the game at the 3:41 mark, and his first pass after being put in was an assist to Jeff Green. The Celtics went on a quick 10-4 run after Pressey entered the game.

After checking in off the bench in the first, Wallace hit a pair of three's. Wallace ended with 8 in the first frame. The Celtics were able to end the first on a high note, and they trailed the Jazz 26-23 after falling behind 13 early in the quarter. The Celtics were down 13-9 on the glass, and they only had 4 turnovers after the first period. Wallace and Green both had 8 points after the first quarter. Utah's Hayward had a team high 10 points at the end of one. Boston also shot a dismal 36% at the end of one.

The Celtics took their first lead around the 10:20 mark off a Lee jumper to go up 26-25 in the second quarter. On the very next play Olynyk would get an easy pass inside for an easy hoop to extend the C's lead. The Jazz would call a time-out that capped a 14-2 run by the Celtics. The Celtics put together their best quarter of the season in the second quarter. The Celtics held the Jazz to 8 points in the second, and they took the lead into halftime 50-34.

In the start of the second half Brad Stevens went with Olynyk over Vitor. The Celtics would maintain a 25 point lead for most of the third quarter. The Jazz started the 4th quarter on a 15-3 run to cut the lead to 87-77. The Jazz cut the lead to 89-83 behind the C's 4th quarter struggles. The Celtics would maintain a lead of 8-10 points for the rest of the game. Brandon Bass was Mr.4th quarter for the Celtics tonight. He scored 9 of his 20 points in the 4th quarter to help lead the Celtics to a 97-87 win.

The Celtics out rebounded the Jazz 42-41, and they had a solid turnover number with 14 tonight. Jeff Green was aggressive once again, with 18 points, but he was scoreless in the 4th quarter again. The Celtics earned their first win of the season, and their first win under Brad Stevens.
