Danny Ainge denies Rajon Rondo trade rumors

Yesterday rumors started circulating that both the Knicks and Rockets were interested in dealing for Boston's point guard.  This morning, right on cue, Celtics GM Danny Ainge said it won't be happening.  Via Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald:
"I haven’t talked to any teams about Rajon Rondo," Celts' president of basketball operation Danny Ainge told the Herald this morning. He has, however, fielded a number of calls wanting to know if the rumors are true. "It's frustrating," Ainge said. He went on to reiterate that Rondo, still rehabbing from ACL surgery, is a major part of the Celtics' plans going forward.

Even if the potential trades were something worth taking seriously and not a couple of garbage offers, this is still exactly what you'd expect to hear from Ainge.

And as tweeted by Chris Broussard last night and reported by ESPN New York this morning, you've got to love the Celtics response to the Knicks:

"Hey Boston, want to give us Rajon Rondo for Iman Shumpert and Amar'e Stoudemire?"
"Um, no thanks.  How about Gerald Wallace and Courtney Lee instead?"

Spectacular counter offer Danny, touche.
