Rondo pushing for Josh Smith in Boston
Rajon Rondo, who was upset after seeing Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce dealt, wants Josh Smith in Boston. They were teammates in high school.

The Detroit Pistons are meeting with Josh Smith tonight, as @WojYahooNBA tweeted. The Boston Celtics are also expected to pursue Smith.

If Danny Ainge decides to not go the tank route and completely rebuild, but instead wants to retool, Josh Smith is there for the taking. In a sign-and-trade with the Atlanta Hawks the Celtics could offer some combination of either players, picks, or the trade exception they are receiving from the Nets for Pierce, KG, and Terry.
I have a strong hunch that Ainge is going to go the opposite direction and trade Rondo once he shows he's recovered from his knee surgery, but the Josh Smith situation is worth monitoring. It's a pity that we finally have an all-star caliber free agent that wants to sign in Boston at the exact time the Celtics want to start over.
