Dennis Schroeder denies he received a draft promise

Dennis Schroeder was apparently told by the Boston Celtics that they would draft him if he were there with the 16th overall pick.

This according to NBADraft.net. Schroeder first appeared on our radar when ESPN's Chad Ford slotted him to the Celtics in the first round. Since NBADraft.net themselves rank Schroeder as the 11th best player in the draft, then yes, logic would dictate the Celtics would probably pick him if he slipped to 16.

Is that a promise though? Dennis Schreder apparently never heard any promise from anyone.

Jay King, MassLive:
"Nobody has talked to me," he told the Racine-Journal Times. "I’m just hoping to go in the first round."

Schroeder's agent, Alex Saratsis, also discredited the claims.

"I don’t know where that came from," Saratsis said. "I don’t know anything about that."

Schroeder has been often compared to one Rajon Rondo, so if the Celtics are looking to bring in a back up point guard, as their recent moves would suggest, he would certainly be a fit.
