Ainge, Celtics not looking to trade Rondo

In light of last night’s blockbuster move, Danny Ainge said today in the Boston Globe that they are not looking to trade All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. He said that the Celtics organization is comfortable building their team around Rondo, but after that Danny was asked if everyone on the roster is tradeable and he said:
“If Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are tradeable, I guess everybody is tradeable,” he said. “There’s guys we’re not looking to move right now.” Ainge said Rondo was one of those players.

So it looks like the Rajon Rondo era of the Celtics is beginning. The rumors are swirling around that Rondo is one of the reasons Doc wanted to leave, that their relationship is frosty and that Doc doesn’t believe that you can build around Rondo. This is a smart move by Danny to come out and back your best player, especially after some reports saying that Rondo isn’t sure even he wants to be a part of a rebuild. Once the KG/Pierce trade goes through on July 10th expect more moves to create a better roster to fit around the skillset of Rajon Rondo.
