Gerald Henderson and Bobcats maul the Celtics 100-74
The Charlotte Bobcats defeated the Boston Celtics 100 to 74 tonight at the Time Warner Cable Arena. This game was a slow paced, low energy half-court game which was to the detriment of this up-tempo post-Rondo injury Celtics team. Gerald Henderson went off for the Cats scoring his career high 35 points. The Celtics were without Pierce tonight and it clearly was a factor, making a season low 21 field goals. The top performer in my opinion was Brandon Bass who stuffed the stat sheet scoring 10 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing 2 assist, snatching two steals and rejecting 1 shot. The rest of the team was a no show in the effort column which is really disconcerting as the Green try to battle for playoff position.
Henderson wasn’t the only Bobcat that looked like a world beater; Josh McRoberts looked like an all-star notching a double-double and Ben Gordon also chipped in 17 points. Garnett only played 21 minutes, shooting 2 of 10 and came up 5 points short of moving to 19th in all-time scoring. Both newbies D.J. White and Shavlik Randolph got double digits minutes, and they both looked like decent backup big guys. The only thing that was great for Boston tonight were those awesome St. Patrick’s Day jerseys, those are my favorite. The Celtics fall to 34-29 on the season and are currently at the 6th seed barring a big comeback by Atlanta tonight; the Green look to bounce back versus Toronto tomorrow night at home.
