Player Grades:
I grade on a curve!

Kevin Garnett: 24 Points, 10 Rebounds
Kevin Garnett gave us a great performance tonight, and it was unfortunately wasted. He rebounded well, shot well, and was only slowed down by fouls/minutes. He got gassed at the end, and his last two fouls were stupid, but you can't really blame him for much tonight.
A-

Brandon Bass:
Not much to say except he stunk. I have no answers as to why he has regressed so much this year.
F

Paul Pierce: 12 Points, 6 Rebounds
Pierce was a liability on both sides of the ball tonight. He shot poorly and turned the ball over far too often, and he was absolutely abused by Josh Smith/Kyle Korver. Pierce is in a frustrating slump right now, and it is hard to see when or how it will end. But this is just some terrible basketball from Pierce.
D

Rajon Rondo: 16 Points, 11 Assists, 10 Rebounds
Rondo had a good game. The triple-double speaks for itself, but there were some black spots. He made a couple of poor passes late and missed a couple of easy shots that could have gotten the win. But we're not in this game without Rondo.
B+

Avery Bradley: 14 Points
Bradley responded well from the game yesterday, and gave the Celtics a little more scoring. This kind of production would be optimal every night.
B+

Jared Sullinger: 5 Rebounds
Played with effort, but did not make his usual impact. His defense against taller skilled guys is starting to become a problem, with Al Horford abusing him multiple times tonight.
B-

Jeff Green: 17 Points, 6 Rebounds
Jeff had a great game tonight. The kind of night we expect more often. The games where he draws a ton of free throws are the best, because he has the ability to do that. These highs make the inevitable lows so much worse, but he really had it going tonight.
A-

Jason Collins:
Was a complete liability on the court tonight.
F

Courtney Lee: 16 Points, 7 Rebounds, 4 Assists
Lee gave us a great game tonight. Good defense, energy and hustle, and he hit his shots. What more could one want?
A-

Jason Terry: 12 Points
Now this was a heartening sight. Terry actually took, and made shots! It was a pretty huge step in the right direction for him.
B+

Doc Rivers:
Doc deserves a huge amount of blame for the loss tonight. He failed to reward the players who actually got the lead with more minutes, failed to make really any decisions in the second half, and drew up some terrible late-game plays. Doc may not be playing on the court, but he absolutely has major responsibility.
D

Boston Celtics: 111 Points, 48 Rebounds, 28 Assists
The Celtics absolutely could of had this win. They dominated in the first half (although the Hawks played extremely poorly), and still maintained control of the game even when Atlanta came back. They refused most of the opportunities to win, and have no one to blame but themselves. They were not outplayed (for most of the night), they killed themselves. They were absolutely burned on defense late, but the offense did look much better than usual. The bench deserves a round of applause for almost carrying the team tonight. The Celtics now face Miami on Sunday (01/27/13), and hope to snap their losing-streak.
