Vucevic Works Out for Celtics

The Celtics have announced that today's workout at their practice facility in Waltham included USC's Nikola Vucevic, along with Louisville's Terrence Jennings, Clemson's Demontez Stitt, Florida's Vernon Macklin, Richmond's Kevin Anderson, and UConn's Charles Okwandu.

We have discussed Vucevic a couple of times here on Celtics Life already, first when he appeared on Chad Ford's Mock as the Celtics pick at #25. You can check out his profile, along with video, here.

Chad Ford wasn't the only major mock draft that feels that the Celtics are targeting Vucevic. Dimemag also has Vucevic going to the Celtics with this blurb about their pick.
While Vucevic measured as the biggest player at the draft combine, size isn’t necessarily limiting on his skill set. At 260 pounds, the 7-footer averaged a double-double during his junior season at USC, and his agility and 15-foot jumper make him capable of stretching the floor. For a Celtics team in need of a future down low, Vucevic is their guy.
The fact that Vucevic was in Boston working out might lend some credence to their picks. However, in spite of measuring the tallest at Chicago's draft combine, Vucevic tested out in the bottom 5 in the athletic tests. His vertical leap of 25" was also among the 5 worst at the combine.

Of course, all this may be academic since several teams in the 15-25 range have also worked him out and he may not be on the board when the Celtics pick at 25. If he is, there are several who feel that he could be just what the doctor ordered for the Celtics who desperately need size after losing Perk, Shaq and Semih last year.
