Marcus Smart not the only Celt garnering defensive team votes
While Marcus Smart finally got the recognition he deserves for his gritty, no-holds-barred defense with a First Team All Defense nod this week, he was not the only Boston Celtic to get some love in the defensive teams voting.
Perhaps most surprising is the vote cast for Kyrie Irving, who, while undoubtedly playing his best game on that end of the court in his career, probably still does not rise to the level of a defensive team nominee.
Incredibly Kyrie Irving got a vote for All-Defensive 2nd Team.— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) May 22, 2019
Jaylen Brown got one vote for 2nd Team.
Al Horford got four votes for 2nd Team.
Other Celts getting votes include Al Horford, which should probably surprise no one, and Jaylen Brown, whose excellent defense has been a rock along with Al's in a stormy season seeing big fluctuations in intensity from other teammates as last season unfolded.
