Top-ranked Toronto Raptors just got a little better - signed Patrick McCaw

The NBA found no violations in the signing and prompt release of Patrick McCaw by the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Patrick has now signed a vet-minimum contract with the already-loaded-Toronto Raptors. Toronto currently has the League's best record at 33-12 (.733).

The 6'7", 185-pound guard originally played for the Golden State Warriors, who chose not to match Cleveland's offer to McCaw as a restricted free agent. Patrick played only three games for the Cavs and was then released, making him an unrestricted free agent.

McCaw's value is as a versatile defender. His role with the Raptors is expected to be limited, but he makes an already strong team just a bit tougher for opposing teams to handle. McCaw may get his first test tonight as a member of the Raptors against the Boston Celtics.
