Daniel Theis is back on track - preparing for upcoming season

Celtics center/forward Daniel Theis is outside running and preparing for the upcoming season.

Daniel was lost for the rest of the season in March when he underwent meniscus surgery. Both he and the Celtics took a cautious approach to his recovery and rehab and there was never a chance of him returning for the playoffs.

For the same reason, he is not joining the Celtics Las Vegas Summer League squad. In his first NBA season, Theis' minutes continually increased, as did his production. His per-36-minute numbers look like this: 12.7 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.2 SPG, 1.8 BPG, 2.2 TOPG. He shot 54% on field goals, 31% on three-pointers and 75% from the free throw line.

When you piece together the per-36 numbers and the shooting accuracy with his dogged, mobile defense, we remember why so many of us loved to see him out on the court. And it is exciting to see him outdoors running and preparing for his return. Look for even more improvement from Daniel this season.
