Celtics eliminated from Summer League competition after 95-80 loss to Trailblazers

Summer League is over for the Celtics after a 95-80 loss to the Portland Trailblazers last night.

Boston was without Semi Ojeleye (rest), Jabari Bird (rest), Robert Williams (injury) and Kadeem Allen (released). Trey Davis led the Celtics in scoring with 19 points, while also grabbing four rebounds and handing out three assists.

Guerschon Yabusele and Hassan Martin both notched 16 points for Boston, and Martin also had nine rebounds, coming close to a double-double. John Jenkins had the hot hand for Portland with 25 points on 75% shooting from both the field and from 3-point land. He was a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line. The Blazers' Wade Baldwin IV had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.

The Celtics were outshot (48%-40%) and outrebounded (42-31) by Portland, but it was a 10-0 run by the Blazers in the second half that left the Boston in the dust. Yabu, Hassan and Trey all played significant minutes in this one, and all three came through for the Celtics, but missing both Jabari and Semi took a toll.

With Kadeem Allen recently released from his two-way contract and Jabari Bird very likely heading to a standard contract with Boston or another NBA team, that would leave two 2-way contracts open for the Celtics. Who would they look at for those slots? That is material for another article.
