LeBron to the Warriors? James will consider Golden State this summer

If you thought Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors was bad, imagine if LeBron James decides to team up with Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Durant in the Bay? While it sounds farfetched and I wouldn't count on it, it's still a possibility according to today's ESPN report.

If the Golden State Warriors can create a max salary slot this offseason, the defending NBA champions could position themselves to secure a meeting with LeBron James, league sources told ESPN.

Out of respect for the Warriors' winning culture, James would listen if Golden State explored ways to clear the necessary cap space, sources said.

A sign-and-trade scenario would be the most realistic way for Golden State to acquire James. The Warriors could build an offer around Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala to match salary and tempt the Cavaliers into making a deal, according to ESPN's Kevin Pelton.

LeBron has repeatedly criticized the double standard of players getting criticism for making business or personal decisions and leaving teams in free agency, while NBA teams can trade players like Isaiah Thomas or Blake Griffin with no recourse. People will say that LeBron would get so much shite for ring chasing with the Warriors, but at this stage of his career and at his age, I really don't think he'd care about the criticism. He'd simply try and turn it around and point out the double standard again. Maybe even look at the move as his big FU to the "haters."

For the Cavs, they'd at least get Klay Thompson out of the deal. Better than losing LeBron for nothing. For the Celtics? Well we'd be screwed and would have to wait a few more years before we could truly contend. I have a hard time seeing LeBron joining a crappy Lakers team and just finishing off his career not competing for championships like Kobe did. With the Rockets, LeBron have to share the ball with two very ball dominant players in Chris Paul and James Harden. The Cavs are a mess. The Warriors actually basketball wise make a lot of sense for LeBron as disgusting as that sounds. Again don't expect it to happen, but don't dismiss the idea completely.
