Celtics Daniel Theis career-high points vs. Pistons & future potential

We got another look last night at why the Daniel Theis acquisition by the Celtics was such an impressive move. Daniel played 20 minutes and scored a career-high 19 points in the 110-98 win over the Detroit Pistons. His stat line was further enhanced by shooting 8/10 from the field and 2/2 on three-pointers, while snagging seven rebounds, blocking two shots and notching two steals. This young man just keeps improving as the season progresses.

When Theis is under the basket, he is tenacious, both on offense and defense. Four of his seven boards were on the offensive end. He just never gives up under there. He also had a team-high four box-outs last night. And he doesn't just do the blue-collar work for the team. He can hit very nicely from outside. Take a look at the video below:

Theis' bargain salary this season is roughly 0.8 million, and he is signed for next year at 1.4 million. I looked at his stats for the past three games for a small-sample look at what his production could be with increased minutes next season. His per-36-minutes projection looks like this:

20.5 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 2.5 BPG, 1.7 SPG, 60% FG, 50% 3's, 83% FT and plus/minus of +11.7.

Understand me, please. I am not saying this is what we will see next season, but the guy just keeps improving. We are lucky to have him.
