Gordon Hayward opens up about his injury

Since Gordon Hayward fractured his angle last month, we've only heard from him once, when his mug showed up on the Jumbotron at the Garden for the team's home opener. Other than that, all communication has been run through Coach Brad Stevens. We've been getting weekly updates on the Cs' star small forward, but nothing eye-opening has been revealed, and certainly nothing about the dreadful night of the injury has been discussed.

But that's no longer the case. Hayward just posted an article about that notorious night in Cleveland, and it's a great read. I won't spoil too much, but here's a brief excerpt from the piece:

This time, my leg got caught underneath me. Immediately, I knew something was off, but when I landed, it wasn't a huge amount of pain. I rolled over and saw my foot, and it was pointed in completely the wrong direction. My thought was, "Oh. This isn't good. There's something very wrong here." I felt a sense of panic come over me and signaled to the ref, "Hey, look at this. You've got to stop the game." And still, it didn't seem like it was hurting that much.

We're put in his shoes. We're able to see his perspective on, not only the moment of the injury, but also the aftermath, and what's to come going forward. To read the full article, click here.

We'll also hear more from Hayward tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Get well soon Gordon! One baby step at a time.
