Cavaliers hoping for a mid-December Isaiah Thomas return

Over three months have passed since the Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers finalized the blockbuster deal that sent Kyrie Irving to Boston and Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets 2018 first-round pick to Cleveland, yet Jae Crowder is Cleveland's only acquisition from that trade to have played significant minutes so far.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Cavs are hoping that all changes if and when Isaiah Thomas suits up in wine and gold for the first time in the middle of December.

Thomas' return will do nothing to improve Cleveland's subpar defense, but they will still be very fortunate to get him back, especially with the possible retirement of Derrick Rose looming.
