Celtics extend qualifying offer to Kelly Olynyk


For now, Kelly Olynyk has the ability to fall back on the Celtics if nothing else pans out, as Boston has extended a qualifying offer to the big man.

The Celtics can still rescind that offer if they want to, but Kelly will fetch some offers from other teams across the league. What this does is give the C's options.

If Boston strikes out on Hayward and/or trading for Paul George, Danny Ainge can match whatever offers Olynyk gets as a restricted free agent. It's tough to say what the seven-footer will command as far as a price tag goes, but worst-case scenario, Kelly stays in green.
