Video: Kevin Garnett's first Celtics media day prior to the 2007-08 title season

Today is media day, and we get to hear from the guys on the current roster before heading into the grind that is training camp, which begins tomorrow. So in order to kick things off with some good vibes, here's a throwback to media day from 2007-08:

Just listening to Kevin Garnett talk about what it means to play for the Celtics makes me all warm and fuzzy.

Although we've got some high hopes heading into this year, the two seasons are very different. In the first season of the 2nd "Big Three Era", we had an almost entirely new roster heading into the year from the previous one. Holdovers from the last season included only 6 players from the 2006-07 Celtics squad.

We were going into a season with a team with an entirely different identity, built around longtime captain Paul Pierce and his two new future Hall-of-Fame running mates. That talented team had grand expectations, with the only question being how well they would mesh together. It didn't take long to figure out we had a helluva run in store for us.

This season is very, very different. Yes, we've added a superstar in Al Horford, but instead of retooling the entire team as we did in '07-08, we are building upon the success of last year. Brad Stevens has created a winning culture in Boston, and now the big question is how much of an impact our new additions will make.

As we've already noted, Horford is going to have a huge effect on this team, and we're feeling a buzz we haven't had at the beginning of a season since the end of the last Big Three Era. It'll be interesting to see if Gerald Green can return to form, and just how much of a factor Jaylen Brown will be as a rookie.

So don't forget to check out Celtics media day, which according to Adam Himmlesbach of the Boston Globe, starts at 2:30 pm this afternoon:

Here's to hoping for a great 8 months.
