Phil Pressey goes for 34 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists in the D-League, but...

On Thursday afternoon word broke that Phil Pressey was assigned to the D-League for the first time in his career.  Obviously it came as bit of surprise, but Pressey was a DNP-CD in three of Boston's last four games and this was a nice opportunity to get him some playing time.

Andre Dawkins was sent down for the night as well, however James Young (who played a career-high 20 minutes on Wednesday) was not:

In his debut with the Maine Red Claws Pressey scored 34 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out nine assists and had three steals.  Here are some highlights:

However, after further investigation Pressey's stat line is not quite as impressive as it first appears.  He shot 11-for-25 from the field and 3-for-9 from three-point range (no other Red Claw took more than 11 shots).  Pressey also turned the ball over six times.  Clearly Pressey was in full on "screw it, I'm in the D-League so I'm going to do whatever I feel like" mode--not that there's anything wrong with that.

Here's the full game on YouTube if you want to see more (the announcer was very unimpressed with his sloppy passing in the early going).

Expect Pressey (and probably Dawkins) to be back with the Celtics when they host the 76ers tonight.
