Draft prospect Dario Saric signs with Anadolu Efes, now expected to go to Celtics at 17

Dario Saric is a 20 year old Croatian who was expected to go somewhere in the draft lottery later this week.

Now, however, he'll be staying with his pals overseas, as he's just signed a three year deal with Anadolu Efes.

According to Ford, this keeps Saric from playing in the NBA for at least two of those years.

It also causes his draft stock to fall, obviously, as Ford points out he has now dropped him in his mock from going 12th overall to 17th overall (the Celtics pick there). Maybe that works out quite well in Saric's favor though. The last we heard of him from a Celtics angle was a report that he would apparently only come to the NBA if drafted by the Celtics or Lakers.

Of course, if the Celtics are in "win now" mode like Rajon Rondo seems to think, spending a #17 overall pick on a guy that can't play for two years wouldn't make much sense. Still, many NBA teams are very high on Saric and some further development over in Europe may only do him good.

Would you spend a pick on a player who won't be suiting up until 2016 at the earliest? Comment below.
