Detroit entertaining offers for Greg Monroe?

The Pistons are listening to offers for big man Greg Monroe, who will be a restricted free agent this summer. Via basketballinsiders.com:

"The Pistons will continue to listen to offers for Greg Monroe, who'll be a restricted free agent this summer. But it doesn't sound as if they're actively shopping him, and they've made it clear to other teams they're not trading him for expiring contracts or picks."

The 6'11 250 pound big is just 23 years old. He is an intriguing jack of all trades, especially with that kind of size. As we've discussed before, being paired with Drummond and Smith has clogged the paint in Detroit and has caused a dip in his numbers this year.

2012-2013: 16 PTS, 9.6 RBS, 3.5 AST, .7 BLK, 1.3 STL, 69% FT, 49% FG

2013-2014: 14.3 PTS, 8.7 RBS, 2.0 AST, .4 BLK, 1.0 STL, 64% FT, 52% FG

After playing center for a few years the Pistons plugged in Drummond and slid Monroe over to the four spot. Consequently, his numbers took a bit of a dip across the board. Regardless, Monroe has some awesome capabilities and would be a fun toy to pair with Rondo. But do the Celtics have the right assets to make an offer? More from basketballinsiders:

"Then again, there's a decent change Monroe's agent, David Falk, will find another team willing to force their hand with an offer sheet for a max-level contract in July. So what if there's a blockbuster deal to be made that could bring back, say, Arron Afflalo from Orlando?"

Detroit is exhausted with rebuilding. Desperate for success, they added Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings in the offseason. They just fired Maurice Cheeks 50 games into the season, which marks the eighth head coach the Pistons have had under Joe Dumars, and the fifth since 2008. Still, they are in 9th place in the BRUTALLY weak eastern conference.

Monroe can be had. But two things would have to happen: 1. Ainge would have to give at least Bradley and a slew of top picks and 2. Detroit would have to be willing buckle up for another few years.

In other words, Greg in green is quite a longshot. To make Monroe in green even harder to imagine, CBS Sports is reporting that Detroit will match a max offer for Monroe.
