Ron Adams joining C's coaching staff over Clippers, 4 other teams

According to multiple sources, former lead assistant of the Chicago Bulls Ron Adams will join Brad Stevens on the coaching staff for the Boston Celtics. Adams was Tom Thibodeau’s second in command for the Bulls, a situation that ended kind of tumultuously according to reports. Gar Forman, Bull’s GM, decided to let Adams go without Thibodeau’s consent, creating an ugly divide in the front office. Adam's was a very sought after "free agent" coach and supposedly picked Boston over the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Brooklyn Nets and more importantly the Los Angeles Clippers. According to the Globe, Doc wanted Adams to help fortify his staff in LA... karma Doc, karma.

Adam’s has a plethora of basketball knowledge; he’s been a long time assistant NBA coach. He was also a lead assistant under Scott Skiles in a previous stint with the Bulls, so needless to say he knows the NBA game. This is a great move to add experience to a “green” coaching staff, starting with first year coach Brad Stevens. However I also can’t help but think about how Thibodeau will become a coaching free agent in two years – could the C’s be potentially also setting up a reunion of sorts JUST IN CASE Stevens falls flat on his face? Either way it’s a smart move by the Celtics in my book to support a rookie head coach with a strong foundation in a guy who knows the ins and the outs of the pro game.
