Doc Rivers on the trade deadline and Jermaine O'Neal

Doc spoke with the media today after the trade deadline and addressed a couple issues. From CSNNE's Sherrod Blakely, with regards to the trade deadline and their attempt to get some bigs:

"(Other teams) were interested in our better players; that's easier to say then names. But they weren't offering what we wanted."

"If we could have gotten a big, we would have gotten that. I just think this is a strange year. The way everyone is projecting this draft to be so strong, no one wanted to give up picks. And all the deals from everybody, had that in mind."
And from the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn, with regards to Jermaine O'Neal, who we found out earlier would like to be waived so he can re-join the Miami Heat
Doc Rivers said he doesn't expect Jermaine O'Neal to return this season, so now they may need two big men
Hopefully the Celtics will buy out JO, and Kaman will be bought out by New Orleans. It is believed that Kaman would be interested in playing for Boston if he is bought out, but if that fails to happen, Portland just waived young center Chris Johnson, who had a short stint with the Celtics after being called up from the D-League in the wake of the Perkins trade. Johnson might be a good option if the C's can't acquire a more seasoned big. Greg Oden is also being waived by Portland, but Oden's knees are a huge liability and would be a risky gamble.
