Too late to flop homie. How did I
not sprain my own ankle here?
Dime Magazine interviewed Rajon Rondo this past weekend during his Red Bull King of the Rock 1-on-1 tournament in San Francisco. Not surprisingly the questions focused on 1-on-1 basketball. Here is the juicy part:
Dime: If the Celtics held a 1-on-1 tournament, who would win?
RR: Probably me. I mean, we play a little 1-on-1 sometimes. Paul’s pretty good – he’s probably the best 1-on-1 player we have – ’cause he can score inside and outside, and he can check guards and bigs. So I could say Paul, or I could say I’d win.

Dime: What about a 1-on-1 tournament with just NBA point guards. Who wins?
RR: Me.

Dime: Okay, so who would you beat in the finals?
RR: Whoever gets there.
It would be fun to see Rondo and Paul Pierce go at it 1-on-1. We know what Pierce can do when he wants to score, but we've never seen Rondo in that role. Big difference offensively when you only have to focus on yourself and not making your teammates happy. In my opinion if Rondo was asked to be one of the Celtics top 2 scorers he's easily average over 20 a night. While I'm not sure I believe Rondo's boastful claims, I think people would be surprised how well he'd fare in the 1-on-1 game. Besides, there are no free throws in 1-on-1 (Sorry I had to say it before someone else did).

What's your opinion? Who which current Celtic would win a 1-on-1 tournament? What about point guards? Who would win that? Chris Paul, Derek Rose, Russell Westbrook, Deron Williams, John Wall, or our man Rajon?

  2. - Which current Celtic would win a 1-on-1 tournament? - Pierce
    - What about point guards? Who would win that? - I'd say it comes down to Rondo and Chris Paul. (Maybe I'm a little biased :)

rondo would destroy in pg one on one. nobody near his height could stop him at the rim and he's by far the best defensive pg in the league.

a 1-on-1 tournament of point guards would be won by Russell Westbrook. No other point guard has the combination of size, deense and scoring ability like he has.

in 1 on 1 the first name that pops in to my head is d. rose but we cant forget to of the fastest nba point guards ty lawson and john wall. kyle irving could pose a threat as he is a rookie, bringing new moves.
