According to ESPN Boston, John Holliger has cast his NBA All-Defensive Team ballot, and Kevin Garnett was awarded first team honors in the power forward slot. Said Hollinger:

The power forward crop doesn't overwhelm with top-tier candidates this year, but Garnett is a glaring exception. Even if his own numbers weren't off the charts -- for a team that's already great defensively -- one would have to consider KG for the way his manic intensity rubs off on the rest of the team. Throw in his renewed vigor after struggling with bad knees a year ago, and he's a no-brainer first-team pick.
No other Celtic players were named to the first or second teams, but Rondo and Pierce garnered third team recognition with the following notes:

"It's hard leaving (Rondo) out of the top two when he's the unquestioned top dog at this position when he's at the top of his game... Pierce's offense gets all the press, but he may be the league's most underrated defender."

Boston fans know their boys rock. They don't need honors or awards. They let their play do the talking.

Also on Hollinger's All-Defensive team - Tony Allen. Part of Danny's terrible year in personnel decisions. I still believe but the road to a championship is much more difficult without Perk and TA, too. To blow up this team's core without making the team better in the present or get a future superstar/cornerstone is indefensible.

didn't TA decide to go because he feels he's overshadowed by the Big3?

  5. Congratulations to the Big Ticket!

  6. I knew KG would be All-Defensive team, he'll get votes for DPOY.

@ThomasJ: TA said himself that he wanted to go somewhere else where he wasn't overshadowed. I can't really blame him either, Memphis is a playoff team and he's a HUGE part of their success.

AND Kendrick Perkins isn't a part of this teams core, The Big 3 and Rondo are this team's core.

How is the current team not better? Do you really think this Celtic team would survive to the finals without a backup small forward? Rasual Butler was the answer? I'd rather have JO/ Krstic and Green, than injury prone 25 year old Kendrick Perkins and Rasual Butler.
