According to the Associated Press, an unidentified gibberish-speaking man carrying a steak knife made his way into the Staples Center through the employee entrance before the Cavs-Clippers game yesterday and caused quite a ruckus:

A steak knife-wielding man held police and security guards at bay for nearly an hour at the Staples Center before the Los Angeles Clippers' game Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, authorities said.

The center's general manager, Lee Zeidman, said the man, who was not identified, walked into the venue through an employee entrance. He said security officers tried to block his entry, but the man was brandishing the blade.

The man ran to the arena floor, where he was met by 25 security staffers who surrounded him until police arrived...

"He was talking a lot of gibberish, making a lot of veiled threats, and nobody could really understand him," Zeidman said. "There were no specific demands. He told us: 'Just back away or else you're going to get hurt. Leave me alone. I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to get whatever I want.'"

More after the jump...

Many VIP spectators had to be evacuaded from the arena, and the players were asked to return to their locker rooms during the stand-off. Police were able to apprehend the man after shooting him with a bean bag gun, and the game was able to go on at its regularly scheduled time, although the players were denied a significant warm-up opportunity.

I wonder who this crazy, incomprehensible Los Angeles native could be? And how could he have possibly gained entrance through the employee area? Click here for the full AP article.

    Most likely it was Donald Sterling.

    Can't stand Ron Artest, but that was funny though.

    By the way, after reading about what happened--he threatened the security guards if they didn't let him in. Some security guards those guys are. You're supposed to keep people like that out, not let them get onto the court. Real great job there by those rent-a-cops.

    @ Tim,

    C'mon man, how many rent a cops you know making $6.25/hour gonna take a stab wound for the Clippers. I mean, it's not like the team would have paid his medical expenses in the event he got hurt cause he does work for Donald Sterling the cheapest man in the world. And second, he probably figured dude the Clippers are already killing me with their atrocious play, I don't need you killing me too, and waived the guy through. Hope they at least followed him while on the phone/walkie with the proper authorities.

    @Donald Sterling,
    Give the rent a cops some pepper spray, and/or get Seth Rogan from "Observe and Report" to train them.
