Pierce Lifts Celts Past Knicks, 118-116

Paul Pierce, the Captain, and the Truth, hit a game-winning buzzer beater with less than a second left to give the Celtics a 118-116 win.

Pierce scored a team-high 32 points on 10-18 shooting, while pulling down 10 boards. KG also recorded a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards, and the third amigo, Ray Allen, netted 26 points, 10 coming in the final frame. Rajon Rondo quietly added 10 points and 14 assists.

First year Knicks, Amare Stoudemire and Raymond Felton both played top-notch basketball. STAT dropped 39 and 10, while Felton added 26 points and 14 dimes. To note, Boston made all 21 of it's foul shots, while New York missed 5-26 of it's attempts from the charity stripe.

STAT led the Knicks to a 32-24 lead after 12 minutes, scoring his team's first 7 points of the game. Stoudemire continued his domination, and finished with 23 points and 6 rebounds at the break. New York took a 58-51 lead into halftime. The two teams battled through the 3rd quarter and into the final frame.

Though Boston tied the game many times, they were unable to take the lead until Ray Allen drained a three-pointer from the corner with 1:02 left in regulation. Gallinari converted on a conventional three-point play, though the foul call was questionable.

Then, Paul Pierce drained a step back jumper in Stoudemire's face in the final seconds. STAT did hit a three-pointer after that, but it was released tenths of a second after time expired and Boston prevailed with a 118-116 victory.

The C's return to action tomorrow night, when the Hawks come to Beantown. Tipoff is at 8 PM ET.
