Rafer Alston has agreed to a contract buyout with the Nets.
Sources told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday that the Heat are the early favorite to sign the point guard after he clears waivers.
The Cavaliers and a number of other clubs are expected to show interest in Alston as well.
The C's could make a run at Rafer or they could also sign Arroyo if/when Rafer signs with the Heat and Arroyo gets released (as has been rumored). Neither players are all that good, but you need to have some point guard insurance on your team in case Rondo gets injured after the point where the playoff eligibilty deadline has passed. Some have speculated that Tyronne Lue is that insurance guy, but in my opinion Alston and Arroyo are much better players.

Wow contract buyout and it's not even February? God the Nets can't even do that right!

And btw I think the Cavs have officially topped the 1990 Knicks for being rumored in 8,947 deals this decade.

How could they possibly have a spot for Alston? They have Williams, West and Gibson who all play the point and are all part of the rotation.

I guess the Cavs are trying to make Cleveland like New York huh? Tray and trick Lebron into staying.

There's a Najera to the Mavs rumor for Humphries and S. Williams. Nets need the extra roster spot. That could be the reason for the early buyout.

I wish Kirk Hinrich were available. He'd be ideal.

  5. JR says:

Hinrich IS available. Problem is he's due to get paid like 18 or 19 million the next 2 yrs.
