Celtics Friday curse continues as win streak ends at 11

What is it about Friday home games that turn the Celtics into a mediocre team? The Celtics lost this game because of a lack of energy in the second half and too much one on one offense. In addition, the Big 3 struggled shooting the ball and Boston got very little production from their bench. Rasheed's ejection was a huge part of this. While I have been critical of him this year, the guy can dominate any second unit player in the league. I think in this case he had a right to be angry. At least 2 of the fouls called on him were touch fouls at best. I'm just glad this didn't happen in a meaningful game.

Tony Allen had a great game. Did I just say that? I will admit I've been quite impressed with Tony's play since his return from the injury. That doesn't mean I want him in the game in a tight situation, but he might be a serviceable player off the Celtics bench. Pierce had another sub par offensive game. He's still had a great year overall, but I think he needs a 35 or 40 point night to get him back up to steam.
I thought they didn't exploit matchups enough. Garnett could score down low every possession if he wanted, but the C's settled for 3's. Also, Rondo needs to take more than 8 shots in a game. Don't get me wrong, I love his unselfishness. However, we need him to score in games when the Big 3 are off.

The 76ers have some good young talent, especially Marcus Speights who I didn't even know about before this game. Elton Brand also impressed me. With all the injuries he's been through it is good to see him back playing well. I think Philadelphia might actually be better without Iverson. While they lack talent, they seem to play pretty well together.

I guess this goes to show you that you can't take any team lightly, unless of course it is the Nets. The reasons for the Celtics loss are endless. Ray Allen missed a lot of open looks which he would usually hit. Pierce missed a game winner he normally would make. Rasheed was having a great game then got ejected. I think the Celtics may have been looking forward to their Christmas day match up with the Magic. There are a lot of excuses that could be used, but in the end a loss is a loss. In the grand scheme of things it really isn't a big deal. Boston just needs to make sure they come in and blowout the lowly Timberwolves on Sunday.
