Celtics add veterans Mitchell Robinson and Mike Conley Jr.
Mitchell Robinson though a different style player from another former Knick big turned Celtic in Kristaps Porzingis comes to Boston with very impressive advanced stats and highlight reels, but the biggest key will be whether he can remain healthy for lengthy Celtics playoff runs. The greatest ability is availability, so that will determine how successful this signing ends up for Boston.Free agent center Mitchell Robinson has agreed to a three-year, $47.4 million deal to sign with the Boston Celtics, with a player option in third season, sources tell ESPN. Robinson is an elite rebounder and very strong defensive presense. Deal is essentially a two year contract for Robinson with a player option on the third year in case he struggles and wants to pick up a third year. If Robinson lives up to the Celtics' hopes, he will decline the 3rd year option and become a free agent again in 2028 at the age of 30.
A little earlier on the morning the Celtics also added veteran point guard Mike Conley Jr to a veteran's minimum contract. Conley Jr, who is now entering his twentieth NBA season isn't the player he once was, but his signing is being touted as a good veteran addition and locker room influence who will play limited minutes and won't complain about his playing time.Free agent guard Mike Conley Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal to sign with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN. By using the full MLE on Robinson the Celtics are now hard capped and can not go above the 1st Apron. They still have the $5.5 bi-annual exception that they could use on an additional free agent.
