Celtics reportedly not expected to be interested in Jamal Murray in potential return from Nuggets in Brown deal
This one is a head scratcher. Robb is dialed in so don't doubt the report, but Murray at this point is the most win-now player you could get in a Jaylen package. Jamal's slightly younger and makes less per year so in addition to draft assets acquired in a package you'd have more roster flexibility.
Does new ownership wants to save $ over competing as their priority? That would be a tough pill to swallow, because we were told he is a Boston sports fan. Again that theory (new ownership not wanting to spend) is just a theory at this point, but when selling a team, if you actually care about your fan base, who you sell it to matters.
We saw what happened with the Dallas Mavericks and Mark Cuban now regrets it. Could Wyc "settled" for $5.7 billion instead of $6 billion to get a new owner who prioritizes winning more and doesn't have all their money tied up in the sale price?
At the end of the day, these billionaire owners aren't going to be unable to afford another yacht by choosing the best option for the team's future success when deciding between finalists.
We need to focus more on who an owner sells a team to when discussing their success/legacy owning a sports team.

And again to the "Good he's not worth trading Jaylen for!" crowd, you will be very disappointed when Brown is inevitably traded as all sides point to when the best player coming back is much less talented than a Giannis or a Murray, so just keep that in mind when rooting against a deal now.

If you were rebuilding and didn't have an All-NBA 1st team player like Jayson Tatum still in his prime, I could understand passing on a Murray in a deal, but if your goal is to win titles with Tatum, the Celtics being uninterested in Murray due to his contract is a bad sign.
