Marcus Smart signs with Los Angeles Lakers
Former Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart following a contract buyout with the Washington Wizards has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. Luka Doncic reportedly personally recruited Smart. It's a 2 year, $11 million deal with a player option on that second year.
Smart was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies two summers ago in a three team deal where the Celtics acquired Kristaps Porzingis. While Porzingis helped lead Boston to Banner 19, Smart struggled with injuries and fit in Memphis and was eventually dealt to the Wizards last trade deadline. Washington which is undergoing a rebuild did not have long term plans for the 31 year old Smart and preferred to give playing time to younger players.

Well aware that it’s a business, but if Celtics & Red Sox players could sign with absolutely anyone else besides the Lakers & Yankees that would be great. pic.twitter.com/jeaw4KUtTR
