Video: Payton Pritchard hearing he's been named NBA's Sixth Man of the Year
Here's the moment where Payton Pritchard and his wife hear that the Celtics guard has been named the 2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year:
Pritchard set an NBA record for most 3 pointers made off the bench in a season this year. He was also the only bench player in the NBA to score over 1000 points and his +428 was also a league best for a reserve. Pritchard received 82 (of 100) first-place votes finishing way ahead of the other finalists Malik Beasley of the Detroit Pistons and Ty Jerome of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The moment 💚 pic.twitter.com/pn5AvLcVWA

Payton becomes the fourth Celtic to win the Sixth Man of the Year, joining Kevin McHale, Bill Walton, and most recently Malcolm Brogdon. The award had not been established back when Celtics great John Havlicek had been playing. Otherwise Hondo would have won the award several times as well.
The first year the NBA honored a Sixth Man of the Year was in 1983 when the 76ers Bobby Jones won. The next three seasons were won by McHale (twice) and Bill Walton. McHale and Walton both would go on to win championships during seasons they won the honor, 1984 and 1986 respectively. Here's hoping that Payton Pritchard can join that exclusive club this June.
