Feds investigating Terry Rozier in connection with illegal sports betting scheme
It should be noted that the NBA didn't find anything to punish Rozier with, so he does deserve to be presumed innocent. Then again the NBA had billions of reasons to just punish a "rogue lone wolf" in Jontay Porter similar to how they found Tim Donaghy to have worked alone. Considering the amount of money Rozier has made in the NBA it would have been idiotic for him to get involved in this, but money wise it was dumb for Porter to have been involved and he was found guilty. Gambling can very easily become an addiction, and that would at least somewhat explain how this could happen.
The NBA and sports in general the past few years have embraced gambling and the windfall of money they have received for doing so. It hasn't come without conseqences as some fans have become even more belligerent with players since their missed shots and rebounds are now costing the fans money from online bets.
The NBA can't have any rumors swirling that players are betting on games and might not be giving their all, so they will either have to try and clear Rozier or come down very harshly on him if it's proven that Scary Terry was involved in this betting scheme.
Here's why the federal investigation into gambling activity centering around the Heat's Terry Rozier is going to be very different than the NBA's own investigation - and how damaging it could be to the league if a connection to Rozier is found: pic.twitter.com/cPEu930L6l
