Miami Heat suspend Jimmy Butler for 7 games
There were rumors swirling earlier today that the Miami Heat didn't think that Jimmy Butler was giving his all in the team's past game. Apparently that was the last straw as the team has announced that they are not only now willing to field trade offers, but they have suspended Butler for the next seven games due to multiple transgressions.
Expect Butler to appeal the suspension as seven games without pay is a pretty penny and also expect Butler to eventually be traded (and to a team he wants to play for). The NBA has become much more of a "players league" under Adam Silver where stars tend to be rewarded for unprofessional behavior in their attempts to force trades.Miami HEAT statement on Jimmy Butler:
— Miami HEAT (@MiamiHEAT) January 4, 2025
We have suspended Jimmy Butler for seven games for multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team over the course of the season and particularly the last several weeks.
Update: The Players Association has already announced they will be filing a grievance.
NBPA statement: “The 7-game suspension imposed tonight by the Miami Heat on Jimmy Butler is excessive and inappropriate, and we intend to file a grievance challenging the discipline.” https://t.co/WqW92DiJEN
