If you thought the Celtics playing in the high altitude of Denver was unique, just wait til next season. The Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets will be playing two preason games in the United Arab Emirates' capital city of Abu Dhabi. It's the third time the NBA has scheduled preseason games in Adu Dhabi and the Celtics' first visit. The games will be played on October 4th and 6th.
We're excited to bring two of the best teams in the NBA to Abu Dhabi in the Celtics and the Nuggets," Mark Tatum, the NBA's deputy commissioner, said in a news release. "There is incredible momentum around basketball in the UAE and across the Middle East, and we believe these games as well as our year-round grassroots development and fan engagement efforts will be a catalyst for the continued growth of the game in the region.”
Typically these overseas trips can serve as a bonding experience for teams early in the preseason. The Celtics have more pressing matters on their minds today as they coincidentally face off against the Nuggets tonight in Denver.
