Former Celtics Daniel Theis and Dennis Schröder lead Germany to upset win over Team USA
Team USA's lack of size and Steve Kerr's refusal to play big man Walker Kessler proved to be the team's Achilles heel. Of course most of the top United States talent choose to only play in the Olympics now and not the FIBA World Cup, while other countries' elite NBA talent play in both. That definitely doesn't help the cause, but on paper the United States roster talent wise is head and shoulders above Germany's and Lithuania's so still an embarassing outcome for Kerr and Team USA's players.
In the last FIBA World Cup for Team USA is 2019, they fared even worse, finishing in 7th place. They redeemed themselves with a much more star studded team for the 2000 Olympics led by our Celtics own Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant. Expect the same narrative of redemption leading up to the 2024 Olympic games.

Also been saying this for yrs, but the Philippines🇵🇭imo is the most passionate basketball country globally. They treat basketball like the D.R. treats baseball.
