Celtics add Sam Cassell to coaching staff

Sam Cassell has agreed to join the Boston Celtics coaching staff under Joe Mazzulla, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

The Celtics have several assistant coaching spots to fill and will be using one on long time assistant and former Boston Celtics NBA champion Sam Cassell. The 2008 Celtics guard was most recently an assistant on Doc Rivers' staff in Philadelphia this past season.

The 76ers replaced Rivers with former Raptors' head coach Nick Nurse, opening the door for the Celtics to swoop in on Cassell.
