What the Celtics must do to win the NBA championship

In their quest for rings, the Boston Celtics started off great. Boston, a favorite over the Philadelphia 76ers in their first game, delivered a 109-101 victory.

The Celtics looked good in every phase of the game.

But as every NBA fans knows, one win in the NBA Playoffs won’t get you rings. Even if Boston gets past the 76ers, they must move to the second round where they’re likely to face defending champion Toronto.

A victory over Toronto pushes the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals where they must face the Bucks, Pacers, Heat, or Magic. Milwaukee, Indiana, and Miami are all excellent teams.

If Boston gets to the Finals, Dame Dolla and the scorching Blazers, the Lakers, the always excellent Kawhi and the Clippers, or The Beard and the Rockets should be waiting.

As anybody reading this knows, the Celtics have a hill to climb to not only win the Eastern Conference, but to also take home the NBA Title trophy.

Keep reading for info on how the Boston Celtics can accomplish their task.

First, get past the 76ers

Sure, Boston looked good in their win over the Sixers. But, Philadelphia outshot Boston from both the field and from behind the three-point line.

The Celtics shot 42.2% from the field. They shot around 32% from three. They must improve on those percentages to beat the 76ers three more times.

By the time you read this, we’ll know if Boston improved in Game 2. If they did, then we can rest assured, the Celtics will finish off the 76ers. They may lose a game, or even a couple, but they won’t let Philadelphia knock them from the bubble.

Second, continue to dominate the Toronto Raptors

NBA fans are so caught up in star power that we forget a star is only as good as the other players on his team. Case in point?

The eight-seeded Orlando Magic upset the Milwaukee Bucks in their first game playoff battle without star Aaron Gordon on the floor and with Bucks’ 2019 MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo scoring 31 and grabbing 17 boards.

After the Raptors acquired Kawhi Leonard last season, and then won the NBA Championship, most felt that it was all Kawhi. Here we are, though, watching as the Raptors showcase the same brilliance from last season’s playoff in the Orlando bubble.

Toronto went 7-1 straight up during the restart. The good news? The Celtics beat Toronto 122-100 on August 7.

That wasn’t the only time this season the Celtics put a beating onto the Raptors. The Celts also dominated 122-106 and 118-102.

Toronto did beat Boston 113-97 in the fourth regular season battle. We mustn’t look past that game. It shows that the Raptors can turn the tables on the Celtics.

So if Celtics-Raptors happens in the conference semifinals, Boston had better make sure they’re at the top of their game.

Third, stay calm versus the Pacers, Heat, or Bucks

Should the Celtics make the Eastern Conference Finals, the key will be to stay calm. Unless they face the Orlando Magic, Boston will throw down against a team they’ve beaten this season.

But, they will also face one of the better overall teams in the NBA. The Miami Heat are solid in every position. They also send the awesome Jimmy Butler to the court.

Every basketball fan on Earth knows how awesome Giannis and the Bucks can be when they play together.

The Pacers? Sure, they enter the playoffs a huge underdog and lost their first game to the Miami Heat. But, Indiana has Tobias Harris and when Tobias is on his game, he destroys opposing squads.

The Celtics must stay calm. They can’t question themselves if they lose that first Eastern Conference Finals game.

If Boston makes the NBA Finals, they should win it

We italicize “should” because the Western Conference is overrated. Kawhi, James Harden, and LeBron are great players.

Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum, and Giannis are just as good. Not only that, but think of a better starting five than what the Celtics send to the floor every night.

A quick aside, if you decide to back the Celtics to win it all, make sure to look for better odds than their current +1000. If Boston beats Philadelphia in Game 2 on Wednesday, those odds should drop to +800 or, maybe, less.

One of the best places to search for odds is to call bookie pay per head agents. Per head agents use bookie software to run their sportsbooks. That gives them the right to change betting odds.
If you want better odds on the Celtics find a pph sportsbook agent and ask for better odds.

Going back to Boston’s championship chances, even with Gordon Hayward missing a month due to an ankle sprain, the Celtics’ have a deep enough bench to support whoever starts in Hayward’s place.

That gives Boston an edge over almost every team they’re likely to face in the NBA Championship save for, and this will sound crazy, the Portland Trail Blazers.

Why does Portland have a shot against the Celtics? Jusuf Nurkic can dominate in the paint while no team has a better backcourt than C.J. McCollum and Damian “Dame Dolla” Lillard.

It all starts with the 76ers, though. Once Boston closes the door on Joel Embiid and the Sixers, their chances of making it to the championship series skyrocket.

Unless they face the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics should have a virtual parade on the streets of Beantown in mid-October.
