Celtics finalizing a deal with EuroLeague guard Brad Wanamaker
Last week, it was rumored that the Boston Celtics were interested in signing EuroLeague guard Brad Wanamaker. It looks like that rumor is coming to fruition, as reported today by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski:
EuroLeague guard Brad Wanamaker is finalizing a deal to join the Boston Celtics next season, league sources tell ESPN.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 25, 2018
Wanamaker, who last played for Fenerbahce, is 6'4" and 28 years old. He averaged 13.4 points, 4.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game over the last 3 years in the EuroLeague. In addition, he was voted 2nd team All-EuroLeague in 2017-2018.
This move by the Celtics likely indicates that they will no longer have the need for back up point guard Shane Larkin, who was a solid contributor off the bench, but injured his shoulder during the 2018 playoffs after colliding with Joel Embiid.
Probably more of a Larkin replacement— Nathaniel Tully ☁️ (@NathanielTully) June 25, 2018
