Celtics defense ratchets up in win over T-Wolves, 91-84

The Celtics defense rolls again as they held the Minnesota Timberwolves in check in a 91-84 win at the TD Garden. Marcus Smart led the C's with his 2nd highest scoring output of the year with 18 points on 8 of 13 from the field as he finished a team-high +17. Kyrie Irving finished with a near triple-double despite a less-than-stellar shooting night (6-16). He tallied 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists in 37 minutes.

For the T-Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns was a monster as he scored 25 points on 9 of 16 shooting and nearly matched that on the glass with his 23 rebounds. Jimmy Butler had 14 points and 6 assists but shot a mere 25% (3-12) from the field.

Jayson Tatum jumped on the highlight reel early as he posterized Towns early in the 1st:

The C's spread the ball around with 24 assists, including a team-high 8 from Irving, with 5 guys scoring in double figures:

Terry Rozier continues to give the C's a great boost off the bench with 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting and some filthy moves to the basket:

The Celtics improve to 32-10 and play tomorrow night on the road against the Brooklyn Nets.
