Four games - two home, two away, and just two opponents. Not great in terms of variety but not really a big deal. At least they are playing just the two teams with the shortened preseason as there's a benefit in seeing how some of the younger players adjust after matching up against the same guys for a second time.
We knew about the games vs Philly after the Sixers dropped their schedule on Friday, but this is the full docket for the Celtics preseason. One downside to having only 4 games, as opposed to the 7 they had last year, is that there was some serious turnover in the C's roster this offseason and more run for the newcomers probably wouldn't have hurt for a team looking to hit the ground running when the regular season rolls around.
Most would consider fewer preseason games a good thing. But for #Celtics w/ only 6 returning players reps together will be important early.— Scott Souza (@Scott_Souza) August 7, 2017
Also with two games against the Sixers on tap we'll get to hear some premature Jayson Tatum and Markelle Fultz hot takes and comparisons when the games don't count. So we have that to look forward to also.
