Report: Baynes to sign with Boston on a 1-year, $4.3 million deal

The Vertical's Shams Charania reports former Detroit Pistons Center Aron Baynes will sign with the Boston Celtics for a one-year deal worth $4.3 million.

The deal, which almost certainly comes from Boston's Room Exception, fills a much-needed lack of depth and rebounding in next season's Celtics frontcourt. Baynes, a 30-year-old, 6'10 big man, logged 4.9 points and 4.4 boards per game over just 15.5 minutes per game last season. While his lack of scoring away from the basket suggests he will not start many if any games for Boston, he should get himself significantly more minutes than he was seeing in Detroit.
