Baynes is excited to bring a level of toughness to the team.— Boston Celtics (@celtics) July 19, 2017
The team formally announced his signing at a press conference this afternoon, and while deal terms were not given per team policy, the consensus is that the deal is a one-year, $4.3 million dollar contract, using the Room Mid-level Exception.
Baynes, while limited in most modern NBA schematics, provides a solid interior presence on the glass with rim protection, and has logged playoff experience with both the Pistons and his first team, the San Antonio Spurs, with whom he won a championship in 2014. Welcome to Boston, Aron!
